Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
PC gamers rely on headphones to eliminate distracting noise around them, so they can concentrate on their game play and hear every nuance of the game audio. Stereo headphones with an integrated PC microphone are incompatible with the Xbox 360, so gamers are forced to choose between using standard headphones and talking online. Conventional Xbox communicator headsets cover one ear for chat, leaving only a single ear for hearing game audio from the speakers. The Ear Force X3 overcome this problem by pumping game audio AND online chat through high-fidelity headphones to deliver the privacy, clarity, and competitive edge of PC headphones on the Xbox 360 platform. They're also designed to enhance the Microsoft Xbox 360 gaming experience by enabling the user to independently control volume of amplified chat and game audio - a first for wireless headphones. Designed for premium sound, the X3s feature 40mm drivers in each ear cup and are powered by low distortion DC-coupled amplifiers for deep, rich bass sound. Engineered for long-gaming sessions, the headphones incorporate a soft, cushioned, adjustable headband, deep ear pads and tilting ear cups to fit the contours of the gamer's head. No matter if your priority is physical comfort, headset options or audio clarity, the Ear Force X3 wireless Xbox headphones will hold up to the test. Headset usable with other gaming systems (mic for Xbox 360 only)

5 out of 5 stars ear Force X3 Review   January 7, 2009

Great product. It enhances the game experience because of the vivid sounds when playing. I get so into games now because of the headphones that I wished I had bought this a long time ago.

5 out of 5 stars Great Headset   December 4, 2008

The title says it all.

Great sound quality, comfortable, and easy set-up.

If you're in the market for a gaming headset, these would be an excellent choice. Perfect for some late-night gaming when noise volume is a factor but you don't want to hinder your gaming experience. These allow you to hear everything you need and then some, and the Bass Boost only adds to the immersion.

The padded ear cups and cushioned crossbar are perfect. You could wear them for hours on end and not feel the slightest discomfort.

Set-up is a breeze, just connect the included wires to your tv and then connect your gaming consoles sound output, plug in the infrared sensor and your good to go.

After trying these out as my first introduction to the world of gaming headsets I'm very satisfied. I was contemplating the X4's but with these being a $100 less I figured they'd suit my needs, and they definitely justified the purchase. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better headset for this price.

4 out of 5 stars Not too bad   November 11, 2008

The X3 from turtle beach will change your gaming experience. I purchased it because my dog chewed up my original headset that came with the xbox. I play a lot of Halo 3 and Call of Duty. Headset is awesome for both games and it really does drown out any other sounds surrounding you in the room. It could use more BASS though, but thats just something I personally like. One problem that I find very annoying with this product is WHITE NOISE. When the game sound is in idle (when there is no game noise) all you hear is a very annoying electro-static sound (WHITE NOISE). It takes so getting use to but eventually you will learn to ignore it. The headset is comfortable with plush leather padding. The mic sounds good and clear (because you can hear yourself when you talk, you actually realize how dorky you sound. haha). The range is decent with the transmitter. Overall this product is good, and would recommend it.

I purchased this as a present for my step-son. After using it, he washed my car, cooked me supper, mowed the lawn and scrubbed the floors. Seriously; he was thrilled and said that it improved his enjoyment of his X-Box 360. I'm sure there are better, but for the money, this is great.

4 out of 5 stars These are good, but not perfect   August 2, 2008

Just like most people, I bought these so that my fiance wouldn't have to hear me on the nights where she had to get up early and go to work when I had the next day off.

The sound is good, but not AWESOME. I read the reviews here and talked to other people that used them and everyone said they sound AMAZING. I've got great ears for sound quality unlike many people and I didn't think these were as "amazing" as people were putting them out to be. They are good, but not great. If you play CoD4, you can sometimes tell when someone is running behind you but a lot of the time, you just don't know if they are in front or sometimes on your side. They have to be almost directly on your side for you to hear them just in the one speaker.

People have mentioned the "wires/sound being backwards". Well, everyone is use to having the mic on their right and ear force has changed it to have the mic on your left. Just something to get use to I guess.

Others have mentioned their batteries were being eaten a live, well BUY RECHARGEABLES. Some guy said rechargeables don't work but they do. This is what I bought:
La Crosse Technology BC-900 AlphaPower Battery Charger
They work great and you can use the AA's that come with it on your Xbox controller. This is a much smarter buy than getting the recharge tower for the Xbox 360 Controller Rechargeable batteries.

Another issue I have with this set is the sound cutting out. Other people have said, and others confirmed, that when there's a big explosion, the sound cuts out. This is true...sort of. When I first got them, I was playing on my couch almost directly in line with the sensor and everything was working perfectly. Then the next time I played, I was sitting on the floor, not in direct line (I was under the sensor) and I noticed that the loud sounds would cut out. So after noticing that, I started moving around and realized that you have to be pretty much dead on for it to work 99% perfect. By doing this, it shouldn't cut out and if it does, it is not really noticeable.

One thing that is annoying is when I turn these on, they don't "work" right away. I have to tap one of the sensors for these to start working. Annoying but I can live with it.

I've had mine for about 2 weeks now and I'm enjoying them. They are pretty good for playing CoD4 and if you have a wife, fiance, girlfriend or even family that you don't want to disturb at night, this is definitely the product to buy (unless you have $250 to spend, then get one of those MLG sponsored headsets).

So overall 4 out of 5 stars.
