5 out of 5 stars Love This Monitor   July 29, 2010
War Eagle (California, USA)
M. Vaughn's review of April 10 says it all -- so I won't add much.

o Monitor is light and easy to handle.
o Easy to assemble and to set up despite meager instructions.
o Windows 7 x64 recognized the monitor and set it up with my doing nothing.
o Video image is beautiful.
o Stand is very adequate for this 7 lb item.
o Frame is a work of art, it belongs in a design museum.
o Ridiculously inexpensive for what you get.

Cannot think of anything negative to say.

5 out of 5 stars Wow   July 25, 2010

This is one fine monitor. Couldn't be more pleased. The loop stand that everyone in this and other
provider reviews complain about is just right for my application.

5 out of 5 stars The best, if only, option for the budget gamer!   July 24, 2010

I spent quite the deal of time looking at different monitors from various brands and decided that I would go the LED route. Faster response times, brighter displays, less power usage, etc. I was a little weary at first because of the price point being quite low (affordable) and some of the complaints about the ring stand. Well, needless to say I am more than surprised and satisfied with this monitor. I'll skip the specs because they're listed and hit on some specifics in a bit.

Pros: This monitor is huge for the $200 price point. Construction is very sturdy and has an amazing industrial design that shimmers with a super sexy paint job. It's very light for it's size and very, very thin but poses no problem when you need to adjust the angle of the monitor with a push of the finger. Rubber pads on the monitor and ring stand help keep it in one place. The touch controls take some getting used to but are very responsive and quite nice addition. They remain unlit until you touch them and when you do the options appear above the buttons. Very suave. Response time is immaculate and much improved over my CRT Dell monitor (get those LOLs out now) and games are a gem to look at. No dead pixels whatsoever on my unit but it has been mentioned as happening to others. TRUE 1080 HD, no kidding. Batman: AA looks freaking amazing on this display as well as other games. Also has an HD audio port on the back if you want to use the HDMI connection for audio as well, but I have an external amp headset so no use for me.

Cons: Very light, so if you have small animals that roam on your desk they might pose a problem to knocking it over. It is a very sturdy design but if something comes up from behind and starts rubbing up on it, it can tip over fairly easily. There is no native DVI port so you're stuck with VGA or HDMI. Plays nice with NVIDIA cards, but if you have an ATI card you might need to fiddle with the settings to get rid of the letterbox effect when you first power it up. Not a con for me, but some people might not want to take a few minutes to fiddle right out of the box.

I really have no complaints whatsoever. This monitor is an amazing piece of equipment and industrial design. Very gorgeous to look at, easy to set up, HUGE display, great response time with games and the huge contrast ratio is NOT a lie. Highly recommended for gamers on a budget as this is by far the BEST monitor I have ever laid my eyes upon. Asus makes great hardware for PCs and this is no different. Now if they make a 120Hz model that's NVIDIA 3D ready, I might have to buy three.

I did just receive it, so after playing around for a while I will update if necessary.

5 out of 5 stars Great Product   July 24, 2010

This has to be the best monitor you can buy for the price.

Pros:
Price - for under two hundred, a bargain.
Quality - the best monitor I've ever owned. No dead pixels, scratches, or anything. When you pick it up you can tell it is well built all around. The design looks so amazing people will think you own a $500 monitor. Also the monitor produces no heat.
Weight - can easily lift and probably the lightest monitor you can own for a comparable size.
Screen - full HD quality 1920x1080. I have it plugged in to a ATI HD5850 and games and movies play great.
Touch buttons - great response time and look nice.

Cons: (The cons below don't even come close to knocking off a star from this rating of 5 stars. I just listed as an FYI)
Stand - the monitor always has a tilt because of the stand design. The quickest and most effective way I found to fix this was put something under the stand which solves that problem.
AC/DC coveter - way hotter than it should be. The monitor would hardly use any power if they had designed the adapter better and didn't create so much heat.

4 out of 5 stars Great product with a couple of drawbacks   July 14, 2010

It is a great LED monitor, well worth the money. I am satisfied with this purchase and would like to recommend it to my friends. However, it has a couple of drawbacks.

The good:
(1) The size is right. I like 23 inch screen. It is not too big or too small. Also, 16:9 is my favorite, more suitable for movie.

(2) Good technical parameters. Up to 40% energy savings. 10000000:1 Smart Contrast Ratio. 2 ms Response Time. Ture 1080P high definition. It has HDMI, too. Those specifications normally won't be seen for a LED monitor at this price.

(3) I do like it is performance. The color is so real and dynamic. The contrast is just amazing, much better than my old 19 inch LCD monitor. And it might be the best among all the monitors I've used and seen. [If talked about the performance].

The bad:
(1) The button design might be confusing. If you look at the right lower cornor, there are five small buttons [FLAT] and a big power button [CONCAVE].
You may easily think those five small buttons are just some sort of indicators cause it is too flat and too small, and there is no signs on the monitor indicating that those buttons are actually buttons.

(2) The default input signal is via VGA, not HDMI. So you will only see a black screen if you conect this monitor to your computer via HDMI, which is confusiog, too. You may just think that you get a faulty monitor. Actually all you need to do is to push one of the five small buttons, to change the setting of input signal to HDMI. However, as I indicated in (1), those buttons look not quite as buttons. You will find these stuff in the manual if you read carefully. But still, it is confusing and kind of stupid that the monitor won't automatically tell the input signals.

(3) The LED monitor is more like a HDTV rather than a MONITOR in view of its outward apperance. And, the position angel can be ajusted only in a very limited range. It could not stand upright, which is a little bit annoying, sometimes.

Overall it is a decent product. If you don't mind of its apperance, other issues should be solved easily. Wbile you need to read either the reivews or the manual. [They should lebel some important info on the monitor, I guess.]

Hope my review helps. I wish everybody is having a good day.
