500 GB Network storage (Iomega) October 3, 2008 J. Waddell (Frozen Tundra of Minnesota) Simple set up, lots of space. My desktop backs up to it once a week automatically. I back up my laptop to it wirelessly, when I remember. I also back up all my flash drives frequently. Over a wired network, it is fast and convenient. Over the airwaves, it's just convenient. I feel it is a good product from a reputable company for a good price.
Not good for NAS and Backup September 27, 2008 Bernd Weidenmueller Bought this drive with the intention to use it for backups in NAS mode. I was not able to get a single full-back done with the included backup SW. Back-up stoppped after a couple of hours with the message that it lost connectivity to the drive. After reading one of the other reviews on this site, it might be than I ran into the 4GB barrier which was decribed there. I have returned the drive and consider buying a Netgear model now.
Storage Unit August 9, 2008 Nancy C. Stultz (Millerstown, PA United States) I am very happy with the Iomega storage unit. It was easy to install and of course easy to use. Nothing like Iomega for a good storage solution.
Great Hard Drive Bad Case August 3, 2008 Ryan W. Cashier (Topeka, KS USA) Had this Hard Drive for 7 months before the case took a dump on me. I was sitting at the computer when all of the sudden the light dims and trips the breaker. The case's board was black but I put the drive into my PC and it runs like a champ. Steer clear of this product. The hard drive is awesome but the case is cheaply made and will not endure the test of time.
Constantly crashes in NAS mode July 18, 2008 Adam Compeau (New York) I've had this product for about six months, and the drive regularly crashes on me in NAS mode, forcing me to physically reboot the hdd. Even then, sometimes I still won't be able to connect, and have to reboot again and again. Lately it has gotten so bad that I've decided to buy a new NAS and just hook this one up via USB.
Maybe you'll have better luck, but for me this drive was a disappointment.
