| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description It's the wired mouse that reinvents the wheel - the scroll wheel. Mighty Mouse features the amazing Scroll Ball that lets you move anywhere inside a document, literally without lifting a finger. And with touch-sensitive technology concealed under the seamless top shell, you can choose either the versatility of a four-button mouse or the simplicity of a single-button beauty.

Not so Mighty Mouse - Avoid at all costs August 28, 2008 James A. Smutek (United States) I am a hard core mac user and currently own 5 of them.
I have been dealing with the mighty mouse for nearly 3 years now and can honestly say that it is the worst product I have ever experienced from Apple.
I do not have a problem with the right click like many other users, but do concur that the right and left buttons are for the most part useless and are immediately disabled whenever I set up a new machine.
The thing that really kills this product for me is the scroll ball which is constantly jamming up and requires constant cleaning. It is a major annoyance. What makes it worse, for me, is that other than that one issue this would be a pretty cool little mouse.
I must concur with other users, Apple completely dropped the ball with this one. Avoid at all costs.
The only reason I am writing this review is because I have finally decided to look for a real mouse and came across the mighty mouse while browsing.
A big disappointment August 24, 2008 dCabral I love apple. From their customer service, to their computers and other products (phones, software, os x, etc.) they had always provided top quality.
I just don't understand what happened here. Particularly when Apple was the innovator of providing a mouse for "computers for regular people." Not to become too historic, but its was a concept stolen from Xerox, that is known as their main innovation.
Why mention this? Because, I would think that they would know better about engineering a mouse better than Logitech or Microsoft for that matter, and they don't.
After buying this mouse, and using it for an hour, it just started to hurt my hand. The buttons are not clearly defined (left/right), you almost have to feel hard to get a right click straight. The top of the mouse looks like it depends on the uneven force that you give it. This is something different, but not particularly good for me. The top wheel/ball is susceptible to dirt, and as I read reviews lead to stop working.
Perhaps I got used to good ergonomics in mice, because this one did not feel comfortable.
Also, the basic optical logitech, that you can get at any STAPLES for about $15 to $19 has more functions, is more comfortable and I believe that its 1000 dpi tacking is above this possible 800 dpi at best.
But, don't take my word for it; read other reviews, or better yet, buy it from apple, but don't throw away any of the packaging. This way you can return it like I did, if you reach the same conclusions.
My advise, go for a good Logitech or Microsoft. They seemed to know how to build a good mouse. Unfortunately, this one may look good, but it just doesn't feel right, or work right, or is priced right. . .
THE MOUSE ENTERS THE MAZE . . . August 15, 2008 EMAN NEP . . . but does it get out? We'll see after I point out the pros and cons:
FIRST IMPRESSIONS: To be honest, I did not like the Mighty Mouse when I first tried it out. It felt like there was some sort of learning curve one had to get through before getting comfortable with it. I actually remember switching back to a "normal" Logitech mouse a few times simply because I had such a hard time getting used to the Mighty Mouse scroll ball and everything else.
PROS: As it turns out, after using the Mighty Mouse for a month or two, I actually like the scroll ball and I haven't had any problems with it getting unresponsive. Will definitely try the paper trick mentioned elsewhere if that does happen. The side buttons are great for the Expose feature, even though I don't use it that much. I also like the size of the mouse--smaller than a normal mouse and larger than a "wimp mouse" (those little micro mice you see for laptops). The small cable (~2 feet) is also nice. Call me old-fashioned, but I like my electronics with the cable still attached. You can't have a mouse without a tail, right?
CONS: Not many, but I do think it is a bit tedious having to make sure that you press on the outside-most part of the mouse to guarantee a left- or right-click. If you touch anywhere near the scroll ball there is no telling what might happen. For this same reason I would not use this mouse for gaming.
DOES THE MIGHTY MOUSE GET OUT OF THE MAZE?: Yes, but not without getting a little lost.

Apple must have changed the design of the mighty mouse. The one I received is an optical mouse so there is no problem with a ball getting dirty because it doesn't have one. All the other buttons work well and I would recommend this to anyone in the market for a new mouse. Anyone complaining about the ball getting dirty must have an old version.
I need somthing that lasts . . . August 5, 2008 ROBERT M SCOTT (Independence, KY) I use my Mac full-time to make a living and when ever I get a new Mac workstation, I try to use the mouse that comes with it. But the Apple mouses only last about six months while the Microsoft Mouses last about two years. The Apple mouse has a shape and pressure points that cause my finger tendons to get sore.
The mighty mouse has the same shape as the previous design that caused soreness in my hand.
Four years ago, I started using the Microsoft Intellimouse Optical Mouse. It fits just right in my hand keeps my hand from getting sore and uncomfortable.
I used to get the Intellimouse for $15.00, new, but it is in demand these days and it is hard to get one for under $30.00, after shipping costs are added.
I still go with the Microsoft Intellimouse, for my Mac desktop and Mac laptop when ever is is time to get a new mouse.
